Scholarships for Students with a Learning Disability
College can create a financial burden on families. Scholarships targeted at helping students with learning disabilities can provide additional financial assistance. The scholarship opportunities below can be a good place to start (note that scholarship availability varies depending on funding status, term-specific deadlines, and program updates):
AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability
Awarded annually to deserving students with a disability who are pursuing undergraduate (must be at least a sophomore) or graduate studies in an accredited university. This scholarship recognizes students pursuing studies related to health and disability, particularly majors that will impact the quality of life of persons with disabilities. The application will open by November, and preference will be given to students majoring in public health, health promotion, disability studies, disability research, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, special education, or other fields related to disability and health and to students with a history of community service and/or volunteer activities. www.aahd.us/initiatives/scholarship-program/
The Ability Center of Greater Toledo Scholarships
Awarded annually to students with disabilities, at least a 3.0 GPA, and a permanent address in Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Henry, Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Willians, or Wood counties in Ohio or Monroe or Lenawee counties in Michigan. www.abilitycenter.org/we-can-help/living-with-a-disability/center-resources/scholarship-application/
American Library Association (ALA) Century Scholarship
Annual scholarship of $2,500 that funds services or accommodations for a library school student(s) with disabilities admitted to an ALA-accredited library school. The scholarship will fund services or accommodations that are either not provided by law or otherwise by the university that will enable the student or students to successfully complete the course of study for a Master’s or Doctorate in Library Science and become a library or information studies professional. www.ala.org/scholarships/ala-century-scholarship
Bennett A. Brown Scholarship (Georgia State University)
Scholarships designated specifically for Georgia State University students with a documented language-based learning disability (a learning disability which substantially limits your ability to read, write, or comprehend spoken language) registered with the Margaret A. Staton Office of Disability Services at Georgia State University. Students must also have a demonstrated financial need and be an entering freshman accepted for admission or an undergraduate already enrolled.

Berenzweig Family Scholarship for Students with Dyslexia (University of Michigan)
Scholarship designated specifically for University of Michigan students with dyslexia who have a FAFSA form on file, have connected with Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) and had a welcome meeting with their disability access coordinator, and provide disability documentation to SSD. www.studentaccessibility.umich.edu/scholarships
Betty Bishop Catto Scholarship (University of Michigan-Flint)

Burt Black Scholarship (University of Michigan)
$2,000 scholarship designated specifically for University of Michigan students with a learning or physical disability who have a FAFSA form on file, has connected with Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) and had a welcome meeting with their disability access coordinator, and provides disability documentation to SSD. BMO Capital Markets Lime Connect Equity Through Education Scholarship
Lime Connect is pleased to be an Equity Through Education partner of BMO Capital Markets to provide scholarships for students with disabilities. Tony Coelho Media Scholarship (AAPD)

disABLEDperson, Inc. National Scholarship
Open to students enrolled in a two- or four-year accredited college or university (not available to high school students) and requires proof of disability and matriculation through the student’s Disability Student Services department. The Anne Ford Scholarship

The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship

FSD Science Graduate Student Grant Fund
The Student Award Program of FSD helps to increase opportunities in science, engineering, mathematics, technology, and pre‑medical/dental areas for graduate or professional students with disabilities. FSD has established a Science Graduate Student Grant Fund, which is available to fourth-year undergraduates (who are disabled and have been accepted to a graduate or professional school in the sciences) and graduate science students who have a disability. Awards of $1000 each are made to qualified college or university students in any field of Mathematics, Science, Medicine, Technology, or Engineering. www.stemd.org
Gemm Learning Dyslexia/Auditory Processing Disorder Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to undergraduate students with dyslexia and/or auditory processing disorder who attend college or university in the U.S. or Canada. Lorraine Nelson Herrick Scholarship (University of Colorado, Boulder College of Arts & Sciences)
Scholarship from the University of Colorado, Boulder College of Arts and Sciences is open to incoming freshmen, continuing undergraduate, and graduate students with documented disabilities enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences with a solid academic record. Marion Huber Learning Through Listening Awards (Learning Ally)
Awards presented to Learning Ally members who are high school seniors with learning disabilities, in recognition of academic achievement, outstanding leadership, and service to others. Jack Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Learning Disabled
Open to graduating seniors from the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, exhibit integrity, ambition, good moral character, and a strong desire to achieve a higher level of education, as well as the ability to overcome obstacles caused by the learning disability and a high standard of values, such as loyalty to friends, family, and faith. https://amarilloareafoundation.org/26-scholarships/
Microsoft Disability Scholarship
Scholarship supports students with disabilities in pursuing higher education and building careers in technology. This scholarship will be awarded to promising high school seniors who plan to attend a vocational or academic college and have a financial need. Applicants are pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Law, Business (or a related field, such as Paralegal, Pre-Law, Finance, Business Administration, or Marketing) and demonstrate a passion for technology and leadership at school and/or in the community, with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale or equivalent. The amount of this renewable scholarship to be awarded is $5,000 per year, up to $20,000.

Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation Scholarship (Montana State University)
Awarded annually specifically to high school and college students with dyslexia pursuing degrees in STEM fields. Montana State University will continue the remarkable efforts of Joseph James Legacy Foundation by awarding the Hilleman/Morelli Scholarship. This 4-year scholarship provides a unique blend of financial, academic, leadership, and mentoring support for students. P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship
Scholarship is available to high school seniors who have learning disabilities and are aspiring towards a career in the visual arts. Ralph G. Norman Scholarship
Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,500 to an Arkansas resident with a documented learning disability who will be enrolled at a university, two-year community college, or a vocational/technical training program. Pathways Scholarship

Wells Fargo Stacey Milbern Scholarship
Open to high school seniors or graduates or a current postsecondary undergraduate who plans to enroll or who is already enrolled in full-time or half-time study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university with an identified disability and a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent. Only the first 700 completed applications will be considered. Award amounts are $2,500 for full-time study (renewable for up to three additional years) and $1,250 for half-time study (renewable up to seven additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned) contingent on maintaining a 2.5 GPA or higher and continued enrollment at awarded level. www. scholarshipamerica.org/scholarship/pwdscholarship/
Will Rogers Memorial Scholarship (University of Texas at Austin)
Scholarship is intended for disabled students or non-disabled students studying to work with disabled individuals, especially disabled children at The University of Texas at Austin. “Disabled” in this context shall refer to students who have a physical or non-physical disability, including mental and spiritual hardships and obstacles caused by the environment and lack of opportunity.
